An experimental ethnoarchaeology and analytical approach to fire-related management strategies in a hunter–fisher–gatherer society from the southern tip of Tierra del Fuego (Argentina)
This paper presents a synthetic overview of the results of a multidisciplinary approach –archaeological, experimental and ethnographic – that provides new insights into the fire-related management strategies (from firewood procurement to fire use and cleaning activities) adopted by Yamana groups. Hunter-gatherers collected and used various woody species depending on the landscape, availability of plant communities, and sociocultural considerations. With extensive paleo-wetlands and groundwater-fed oases, the Atacama Desert was interspersed with riparian woodlands that provided vital resources (fuel, water, and game) at the end of the Pleistocene in areas such as the Pampa del Tamarugal (PdT) basin. In diesem Beitrag werden die ersten Ergebnisse eines kürzlich beendeten Sechsjahresprogramms kurz vorgestellt. Die Informationen unserer Vorgänger wurden durch zahlreiche Daten ergänzt. Besonders zu bemerken ist der Nachweis zahlreicher Pfostenabdrücke, die von Strukturen eines Oberbaus aus vergänglichem Material stammten, sowie die Entdeckung eines Keramikgefäßes, das Ähnlichkeiten mit den britischen „ Carinated Bowls“ aufweist. Der kürzlich in der Haute-Normandie an der Seine im Steinbruch Lafarge-Granulat ergrabene Fundplatz „ La Garenne“ (Departement Eure) wurde in das Jung-Endneolithikum datiert.
