Stability of aggression over time and generations
In a study spanning 22 years, data were collected on the aggressiveness of over 600 subjects, their parents, and their children. Subjects who were the more aggressive 8-year-olds at the beginning of the study were discovered to be the more aggressive 30-year-olds at the end of the study. The stability of aggressive behavior was shown to be very similar to the stability of intellectual competence, especially for males. Early aggressiveness was pre…

Childhood Depression and the Draw-a-Person Test
The present study assessed the usefulness of employing the Goodenough-Harris Draw-A-Person Test for investigating depressive symptoms in children. Subjects were 166 boys and 182 girls whose combined mean age was 10.53 yr. ( SD = .78). Structural characteristics obtained from the group-administered test were size of figure drawn, vertical placement of figure on a page, and intensity of lines drawn. Depression was assessed by three independent meth…

MMPI Scores of Juvenile Delinquents Adjusting to Institutionalization
Discrimination of male juvenile delinquents who succeed from those who fail in adjustment to institutionalization was attempted by use of the MMPI. The criterion for success was receipt of a regular discharge whereas that for failure was an irregular discharge. A group of 21 boys who failed was compared to a randomly chosen group of 21 boys who succeeded. Age, IQ, and social class were similar for the groups. Tested was the hypothesis that the fa…

Examiner Effect in the Use of a near Sociometric Procedure in the Third Grade Classroom
Sociometric procedures are widely used as a means of obtaining inforn~ation about classroom social structure, as a means of reorganizing classrooms in terms of the facilitation of harmonious interpersonal relationships, and finally, as a means of identifying rnd~v~dual children subject to interpersonal difficulties in the classroom situation (Gronlund, 1959; Moreno, 1960; Northway, 1952; Thorpe, 1959). In classic procedures, children are required…

Some Relationships Between Sex Role Preference of Children and Other Parent and Child Variables
Status factors in pedestrian violation of traffic signals
Pedestrians violated the prohibition of an automatic traffic signal more often in the presence of an experimenter's model who violated the prohibition than when the latter conformed or was absent. Significantly more violations occurred among pedestrians when the nonconforming model was dressed to represent high social status than when his attire suggested lower status
