  • Development and testing of the Hogan Inventory of Bereavement short form for children and adolescents

    Nancy S Hogan, Lee A Schmidt et al.•ARTICLE•Death Studies•2019•Citada por: 3•Referências: 9

To reduce response burden for bereaved children and adolescents, we provide data on the development and psychometric testing of a short form of the Hogan Sibling Inventory of Bereavement (HSIB). The resulting measure of grief symptoms and personal growth was renamed the Hogan Inventory of Bereavement - Short Form (Children and Adolescents; HIB-SF-CA). • Factors Related to Parent Attendance at a Follow-Up Meeting With an Intensivist After a Child’s Death in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit

Open Access•Markita Suttle, Markita L Suttle et al.•ARTICLE•OMEGA - Journal of Death and Dying•2017

Parents who experience the death of a child are at high risk for psychopathology. Because a large percentage of pediatric deaths occur in the pediatric intensive care unit each year, a follow-up meeting between bereaved parents and intensivists could provide essential emotional support, although some parents may not attend. The aim of this study was to explore demographic and medical factors that may distinguish between bereaved parents who atten…

  • Comparison of Continuing Bonds Reported by Parents and Siblings After a Child's Death from Cancer

    Terrah L Foster, Mary Jo Gilmer et al.•ARTICLE•Death Studies•2011•Citada por: 12•Referências: 13

Few studies have distinguished similarities and differences between continuing bonds as they appear in various bereaved populations, particularly parent versus sibling cohorts following a child's death. This mixed-method study compared how parents and siblings experienced continuing bonds in 40 families who lost a child to cancer. Thirty-six mothers, 24 fathers, and 39 siblings were recruited 3-12 months post-loss (M = 10.7, SD = 3.5). Nearly all…

  • Social Self-perception Accuracy

Christina G Salley, Kathryn Vannatta et al.•ARTICLE•Self and Identity•2009

Significant theoretical and research efforts have addressed children's self-perceptions. However, questions remain about the factors that affect variability in self-perceptions both between children and across development. The present study examined social self-perceptions and self-perception accuracy as defined by concordance between self and peer report of positive and negative social behaviors. Accuracy was examined as a function of grade leve…

  • Social outcomes in childhood brain disorder

    Keith Owen Yeates, Erin D Bigler et al.•ARTICLE•Psychological Bulletin•2007•Citada por: 5•Referências: 1

The authors propose a heuristic model of the social outcomes of childhood brain disorder that draws on models and methods from both the emerging field of social cognitive neuroscience and the study of social competence in developmental psychology/psychopathology. The heuristic model characterizes the relationships between social adjustment, peer interactions and relationships, social problem solving and communication, social-affective and cogniti…
