  • InQuiry

Matthew Militello, Christopher Janson et al.•ARTICLE•The Foundation Review•2016•Referências: 3

This article addresses two important and elusive issues for funded projects: quantifiable measures and deep understandings of participant perceptions. It describes the development of the InQuiry evaluation tool, which combines Q methodology (factor analysis process to quantify perceptions) with a qualitative participatory approach. InQuiry generates both quantified metrics of what participants believe about a given topic and also a rich narrative…

  • I am, I am becoming

Matthew Militello, Marjorie C Ringler et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2016•Referências: 10

We explore the development of community-engaged scholars and practitioners through two distinct lenses: faculty who facilitate engaged learning processes and student-practitioners who are enacting these processes in their work. We use an auto-ethnographic technique, our own stories, to describe the will (motivation) and capacity (knowledge) gained through community engagement. Open Access•Matthew Militello, Christopher Janson•ARTICLE•Education and Urban Society•2014•Referências: 14

Over the past 20 years, there have been numerous calls to reform the practices of school counselors. Some have situated these calls for school counseling reform within the context of urban schooling. Using Q methodology, 79 school counselors and 1 director of gu…

Concerns related to how students in educational administration developed knowledge about research and identity as researchers were closely examined in a research-intensive university in the United States. • The High School “Space Race”

Open Access•Matthew Militello, Scott Alan Metzger et al.•ARTICLE•Education and Urban Society•2008•Citada por: 2•Referências: 11

This article examines the implications of competition between school districts in a mid-Michigan metropolitan area. Over the 10-year period after Michigan's major school-funding reform in 1994, many urban and suburban districts found themselves competing for per-pupil state funding. Suburban districts need extra students to make up budgetary shortfalls and protect instructional programs that are essential in today's political climate of school ac…

  • The Wanderer, the Chameleon, and the Warrior

    Open Access•Elizabeth Murakami-Ramalho, Elizabeth Murakami et al.•ARTICLE•Qualitative Inquiry•2008•Citada por: 7•Referências: 22

In this article, the authors use their personal narratives and collaborative portraits as methods to shed light on the complexities of developing a research identity while journeying through a doctoral program. Using the metaphors of a wanderer, a chameleon, and a warrior, their narratives represent portraits of experiences faced by doctoral students at the peak of their epistemological and ontological growth. Borrowing from Lawrence-Lightfoot an…
