Aunque Julio Camba escribió algunas obras de ficción al comienzo de su carrera, la fama le viene de su trayectoria como articulista. Camba es ante todo un escritor de periódicos, preocupado por moldear a su medida el género de la crónica y el de la columna: los valores poético-artísticos, entre los que destaca el humor, prevalecen sobre los aspectos informativos o estrictamente periodísticos, conformando una visión personal y literaria del mundo
