  • Derivation of an updated brief multivariable prediction model to detect panic-related anxiety in emergency department patients with cardiopulmonary complaints

Open Access•Sharon C Sung, Sharon Sung et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Psychiatry•2026

This newly derived model demonstrated strong diagnostic accuracy in identifying panic-related anxiety among ED patients with cardiopulmonary complaints, suggesting its potential utility in clinical screening. Implementation of this model may facilitate timely diagnosis, reduce repeated ED visits, and improve patient outcomes

  • Randomised clinical trial investigating memory training for recovery-adolescents in addressing psychiatric concerns among adolescents in Iraq

Open Access•Laura Jobson, Hussain Malallah et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Global Health•2025

Background: In this randomised clinical trial, we investigated the efficacy of MEmory Training for Recovery-Adolescent (METRA) in improving psychiatric symptoms among adolescents in Iraq. Methods: In the study, we included adolescents aged 10-19 years with heightened psychiatric distress living in Kirkuk. It was a parallel-group trial comparing METRA with treatment as usual (TAU), with a three-month follow-up. The study occurred between July 2023…

  • Are recessions bad for loneliness

    Open Access•Johannes S Kunz, Trong-Anh Trinh et al.•ARTICLE•Social Science & Medicine•2025•Referências: 35

Loneliness is a pressing public health concern with significant economic, health and social consequences. This paper examines the impact of economic downturns, particularly unemployment and job loss perception, on loneliness in Australia. Using a fixed-effects panel regression applied to 19 waves of data, we find that unemployment is significantly linked to an increased likelihood of experiencing loneliness and other dimensions of social health, …

  • Forecasting of Lung Cancer Incident Cases at the Small-Area Level in Victoria, Australia

Open Access•Win Wah, Rob Stirling et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2021

Predicting lung cancer cases at the small-area level is helpful to quantify the lung cancer burden for health planning purposes at the local geographic level. Using Victorian Cancer Registry (2001-2018) data, this study aims to forecast lung cancer counts at the local government area (LGA) level over the next ten years (2019-2028) in Victoria, Australia. We used the Age-Period-Cohort approach to estimate the annual age-specific incidence and util…

  • A randomised controlled trial comparing completeness of responses of three methods of collecting patient-reported outcome measures in men diagnosed with prostate cancer

Open Access•Dewan Md Emdadul Hoque, Arul Earnest et al.•ARTICLE•Quality of Life Research•2018

  • The burden of methicillin-resistant staphylococcus aureus infections among hospitalised patients in singapore

Open Access•Yong Yang, Moi Lin Ling et al.•ARTICLE•Gestão e Sociedade•2018

Background: MRSA has caused enormous burden to affected Western patients and society. However, only limited study results originated from the Asia-Pacific populations. Aim: To assess the burden of Methicillin-resistant S. aureus infections (MRSA) among patients from a large tertiary care hospital in Singapore. Methods: Retrospective study using data from the hospital discharge database to identify patients with MRSA and Methicillin-sensitive S. a…

  • Time series analysis of demographic and temporal trends of tuberculosis in Singapore

Open Access•Win Wah, Sourav Da et al.•ARTICLE•BMC Public Health•2014

The study found that despite an increasing size of non-resident population, TB risk among non-residents was decreasing at a rate of about 3% per year. There was an apparent seasonality in the TB reporting

  • Small area estimation of sparse disease counts using shared component models-application to birth defect registry data in New South Wales, Australia

    Open Access•Arul Earnest, Jennifer Beard et al.•ARTICLE•Health & Place•2010•Citada por: 1•Referências: 2
