The effect of emotional leadership on the organizational citizenship behavior for the environment of employees from the millennial generation

Interaction between Health and Financial Status on Coping Behaviors during the Covid-19 Pandemic
Our results call for policymakers to find more effective solutions for noncompliant groups so that they can abide by the general guidelines in the COVID-19 context and other social crises that may emerge in the future. We suggest that governments should concentrate their support efforts on healthy populations of low financial segments to prevent COVID-19 and other infectious diseases in the future from spreading further
Prosocial behavior in envy scenarios
We investigated prosocial behavior in different envy conditions. Participants ( N = 118) responded to partners' requests for help after taking part in either a control scenario or scenarios where they felt that their partner was envious of them based on their performance (input), a reward (output), or both (input–output). Results showed significantly different levels of prosocial behavior, with this being highest in the output envy scenario and l…
HIV-related stigma acting as predictors of unemployment of people living with HIV/Aids
Obtaining employment is an important part of recovery for many people living with HIV/AIDS (PLHA). However, this population often faces barriers in their attempt to reenter the workplace. One potential barrier lies in the decision-making of employers. Little is known about what influences employers' decision to hire PLHA. The current paper addresses this gap with findings from 156 quantitative interviews with employers across Chicago, Beijing, an…
Effect of risk orientation on cooperation and decision process in public goods dilemma
This paper investigates the effects of risk orientation (RO) and social value orientation (SVO) on cooperation and the process of making the decision in a public goods dilemma (PGD). We found in Study 1 that risk-seeking prosocials were more cooperative than risk-averse prosocials in a simultaneous PGD. In Study 2, we found the same effect of RO on cooperation in a real-time PGD. Moreover, we found that risk-seeking prosocials, compared with thei…
Nostalgia
Nostalgia, a sentimental longing for a personally experienced and valued past, is a social emotion. It refers to significant others in the context of momentous life events and fosters a sense of social connectedness. On this basis, the authors hypothesized that (1) nostalgia promotes charitable intentions and behavior, and (2) this effect is mediated by empathy with the charity's beneficiaries. Five studies assessed the effect of nostalgia on emp…
Work—Family Conflict, Self-Efficacy, Job Satisfaction, and Gender
This article examines the relationships between two types of work—family conflict (work interfering with family [WIF] and family interfering with work [FIW]), job-related self-efficacy, work satisfaction, and supervisor satisfaction in China and India. Central to the analysis is a comparison of the authors’ model between men and women, where important differences were projected to exist. Results showed that FIW was negatively associated with self…

Daily job search and psychological distress
We examined the relationship between job search and distress using the daily diary method that involved 100 unemployed job seekers in China. Three models were tested: a direct relationship model (examining the effect of job search on distress), a reversed relationship model (assessing the impact of distress on job search), and a third variable model (testing the extent to which daily financial strain accounts for the relationship between job sear…
Interpersonal Relationship and Lay Third Parties' Side-Taking Preference
In two comparative studies, both conducted in China and in the Netherlands, we investigated the effect of an asymmetric relationship on lay third parties' side-taking preference in an interpersonal dispute. The first study shows that a perceived close relationship with one of the disputants motivates both Chinese and Dutch lay third parties to side with that disputant. The second study complicates the interpersonal relationship and side-taking li…

Transformational Leadership and Work-Related Attitudes
In this study, we examined how collective and self-efficacy moderated the influence of transformational leadership on followers' work-related attitudes (i.e., organizational commitment and job satisfaction) using hierarchical linear modeling. Data for this study were collected from 37 bank branches and 644 individuals in China (n = 208), India (n = 194), and the United States (n = 242). Results revealed that transformational leadership and effica…
Cultural Perspectives
Employees in the role of outsider can be faced with a dispute between colleagues. Taking sides is a crucially important, yet neglected tactic in handling disputes. In a study of 226 Chinese employees, we investigated the influence of employees' moral and expedient orientations on their siding intentions in a workplace dispute characterized by different distributions of legitimacy, negative sanctions and guanxi. Results indicate that legitimacy in…
Chinese and Dutch Interpretations of Supervisory Feedback
Ina Chinese-Dutchscenariostudy( N = 433students), the authorsinvestigated subordinates'covert reactions to supervisory feedback. The study consisted of a 2 (personal orientation: collectivist vs. individualist) × 2 (performance perspective: collective vs. individual) × 2 (feedback favorability: positive vs. negative) completely crossed factorial design. The dependent variables were feedback quality, relational quality, emotional responses, and be…
The Dialectics of Citizenship and Ethnicity in Guinea
In future research, we can further develop theories related to the risk perception of COVID-19 and negative emotions, and based on these, formulate interventions to promote people's mental health
