Forgiveness and gender between friends and coworkers
Using original instrumentation four vignettes investigated differences in forgiveness of friends based on gender. Attributions about religious traditions and their perceived openness to mindfulness are considered in this exploratory research. Sexual Behaviors and Perceptions of HIV Risk in a Multiethnic U.S. Sample of Women Who Have Sex with Women
This study investigated the sexual practices and perceptions of HIV risk in a national sample women who have sex with women (WSW). A multiethnic sample of 239 WSW aged 18–68 years attending GLBTQ pride events in three U.S. cities (Chicago, Atlanta, and Fort Lauderdale) completed an anonymous survey regarding their sexual behaviors, thoughts and perceptions of HIV risk. Using semistructured interviews, this study considered how currently active priests (n = 18) perceived physical and cognitive changes of aging, stress in their lives, and self-care. Catholic Priests’ Beliefs of the Use of Power by Their Bishop
Responses from randomly sampled U.S. Catholic priests were analyzed to determine how they perceived their bishop’s use of his power and status as he related to subordinates. Respondents had a moderate concern for the misuse of power by their bishop. Using four vignettes to study attitudes toward religious persecution, a woman or man aged 22 or 68 came to the US with no supporting documentation. Randomly sampled Catholic priests in the United States were asked to consider how their specific bishop valued them as people and their unique ministerial abilities. This exploratory study investigated perceptions of the humanness of religious leaders among university students (N = 374). Most respondents perceived that religious leaders were likeable, beneficial to the community, and experienced similar shortcomings to other persons. This study examined the correlates of psychosocial and behavioral factors on loneliness in midlife and older gay and bisexual men in South Florida. A community-based sample of 802 self-identified gay and bisexual men ages 40 to 94 years completed standardized measures of life orientation (optimism versus pessimism), internalized homonegativity, coping self-efficacy, and loneliness.
