All in this together?’ A commentary on the impact of Covid-19 on disability day services in Ireland
Disability services in Ireland faced a financial crisis which was exacerbated by the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. The resumption of day services for people with disabilities placed the bulk of the financial burden on these disability services following initial non-committal governmental support. This essay combines new evidence from world history with postcolonial and materialist theory to develop an interdisciplinary model of dialectics in world politics. The argument is both theoretical and historical. Toward a Philosophy of Transnationalism
This essay suggests, first of all, that the power of transnational studies lies in its fundamentally dialectical approach, and, secondly, that this approach opens the way to a fresh consideration of the human subject of history. This essay offers a dialectically intertextual reading of Daniel Defoe's Robinson Crusoe and Olaudah Equiano's Interesting Narrative within a reconstructed account of Atlantic race history.
