Unveiling the Nexus
Background: Hypertension, a significant public health concern, is frequently linked to emotional disorders like depression. Research shows a reciprocal link between depression and hypertension, potentially influencing patients’ adherence to self-care routines. Objective: This systematic review aimed to examine the association between depressive symptoms and aspects of self-care, with a focus on medication adherence in individuals diagnosed with h…
Short- and long-term neuropsychiatric outcomes in long Covid in South Korea and Japan
A large‐scale meta‐analytic atlas of mental health problems prevalence during the Covid‐19 early pandemic
The COVID‐19 pandemic and related restrictions can impact mental health. To quantify the mental health burden of COVID‐19 pandemic, we conducted a systematic review and meta‐analysis, searching World Health Organization COVID‐19/PsycInfo/PubMed databases (09/29/2020), including observational studies reporting on mental health outcomes in any population affected by COVID‐19. Primary outcomes were the prevalence of anxiety, depression, stress, slee…
The effects of psychopathology and shame on social representations of health and lifestyle behaviours via free association
Our results indicate that there is a potential interaction between the psychological state and how a social representation of health and lifestyle is constructed through selected words. Graph theory emerged as an additional tool to use to study these relations
Risk and Protective Factors for Personality Disorders
The putative risk/protective factors for several personality disorders remain unclear. The vast majority of published studies has assessed personality characteristics/traits rather than disorders. Thus, the current umbrella review of meta-analyses (MAs) aims to systematically assess risk or protective factors associated with personality disorders. We searched PubMed-MEDLINE/PsycInfo databases, up to August 31, 2020. Quality of MAs was assessed wi…
Association between Participation Activities, Pain Severity, and Psychological Distress in Old Age
Although chronic pain is common in old age, previous studies on participation activities in old age seldom consider pain aspects and its related consequences. This study analyses associations between participation activities, pain severity, and psychological distress in an aging population of Swedish older adults ( N = 6611). We examined older adults' participation in five common leisure activities using the Multidimensional Pain Inventory (MPI),…
Predictive association between immigration status and chronic pain in the general population
Immigrants may have increased risk of chronic pain, widespread pain, and severe pain and this risk is mediated by mood status. Targeted interventions better tailored to the socio-economic and psychological status of immigrants with chronic pain are warranted
Longitudinal Associations between Anatomical Regions of Pain and Work Conditions
We investigated the time-based associations between workload (physical and mechanical), psychosocial work stressors (demands, control, and support), and the number of anatomical regions with pain (ARP). This population-based study with a two-year follow-up included 11,386 responders (5125 men, 6261 women; mean age: 48.8 years; SD: 18.5) living in south-eastern Sweden. Predictive associations were assessed through generalised linear models, and ch…
Homeless mentally ill in Athens area
BACKGROUND: Homelessness, a worldwide psychosocial phenomenon, is now also prevalent in Greece, mainly in Athens area. METHODS: The possible psychiatric morbidity related to help-seeking and the underlying factors were explored in a sample of 254 homeless people from Greater Athens area, using the Mini International Neuropsychiatric Interview (M.I.N.I.). RESULTS: The sample was predominantly male (74%) with mean age of 51 years, being in their ma…
Psychometric Properties and Factor Structure of the Greek Version of the Cardiac Anxiety Questionnaire (CAQ)
The present study assesses the psychometric properties and factor structure of the Greek version of the Cardiac Anxiety Questionnaire (CAQ). The questionnaire was administered to 598 healthy individuals from 15 different regions of Greece with a measure of socioeconomic characteristics and the Symptom Checklist-90-Revised (SCL-90-R). The sample was split into two random halves, and exploratory factor analysis indicated a three-factor solution. Th…
