Lauren Pictor, Mansi Joshi et al.•ARTICLE•Cultural Diversity & Ethnic…•2026

Findings provide causal evidence that observing structural adultification contributes to psychological adultification. When Black or White girls occupy high-responsibility roles, they are perceived as older and inferred to possess more adultlike traits. These results highlight the role of social expectations in shaping racialized perceptions of childhood. (PsycInfo Database Record (c) 2026 APA, all rights reserved)

    Open Access•Shane Littrell, Amanda B Diekman et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Social Issues•2025•Citada por: 1•Referências: 115

Conspiracy theories attempt to explain events and circumstances by attributing them to the supposed secret actions of powerful, malevolent groups. Due to their associations with potentially harmful non‐normative behaviors at both the individual and collective levels, researchers have expressed particular concern over conspiracy theories that malign science. To better understand such beliefs, we conducted a national US survey to gauge respondents’…

  • The New Satanic Panic

Open Access•Casey Klofstad, Olyvia R Christley et al.•ARTICLE•Political Science Quarterly•2024

A moral panic animated by conspiracy theories alleging ritual sex abuse swept through the United States in the 1980s. During that “Satanic Panic,” as it came to be known, people expressed fears of social change regarding gender and sexuality. Beginning in 2022, conservative politicians, pundits, and pastors in the United States levied similar accusations of child grooming, sex trafficking, and satanic sex abuse at the LGBTQ + community, teachers,…

    Open Access•Janine Bosak, Alice Eagly et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Cross-Cultural…•2018•Citada por: 7•Referências: 26

People represent social groups by their trajectories through time, producing dynamic stereotypes. To the extent that these stereotypes derive from observations of group members' behaviors in their typical roles, change in the roles of women and men over time should fuel beliefs that the sexes adopt traits associated with their new roles. Thus, earlier studies have found that stereotypes about the past, present, and future traits of women and men …
