Reforming the Israeli–Arab conflict? Interreligious hospitality in Jaffa and its discontents
This ethnography analyzes three Israeli Reform Jewish rituals as manifestations of interreligious hospitality. The Daniel Reform congregation invites Muslim residents of Jaffa to participate in rituals incorporating Arabic and Muslim clergy and prayers. This article, based on long-term ethnographic fieldwork conducted in Luang Prabang, Laos, since 2006, expands the analysis of the conflicts and divergent interpretations regarding non-Western UNESCO World Heritage Sites. OBJECTIVES: The goal of this study was to determine whether a relationship exists between heat-humidity indexes and rates of preterm labor and preterm delivery. Changes in perinatal cocaine use in an inner-city hospital, 1988 to 1992
Temporal trends in perinatal drug use among parturients at an inner-city hospital were assessed in a cohort study of 1300 parturients in 1991 through 1992 and 1111 parturients in 1988 through 1989. Toxicology results were coupled to data sheets containing demographic and obstetrical information. A decrease was noted between 1988 and 1992 in the prevalence of cocaine metabolites, independent of the utilization of prenatal services. An increase in …

Breast biopsy rate and positivity in Rhode Island
Breast biopsy is a common procedure for which few age-specific, population-based data are available. We identified all women who underwent breast biopsy in Rhode Island in 1989 by reviewing the specimen logs at each of 13 pathology laboratories. Among 425,000 women aged 15-97 years, 2685 underwent breast biopsy, for an overall rate of 6/1000. The rate increased with age, peaking among 45- to 54-year-olds and then declining in women over 75. Peer review of mammography interpretations in a breast cancer screening program
Mammograms from a statewide screening program were subjected to a blind review by a panel of expert mammographers. Ninety-five percent (173/182) of original normal mammograms and 53% (164/311) of original abnormal mammograms were reread as normal.
