Use of Health Care Services in a Sample of Drug-Involved Offenders
There is evidence to suggest that drug-involved offenders are more likely to have chronic health problems, which would lead to the expectation that this group would be consumers of a disproportionate amount of health care services. A Health Services Use Framework for Drug-Abusing Offenders
This article reviews the recent literature on health services use by drug abusers. A revised Andersen-Newman model is posited as a theoretical orientation for health service initiatives focused on drug abuse. The model highlights specific predisposing factors, historical health factors, current illness factors, and enabling/mediating factors associated with drug abuse. The analyses reported here draw on recent work on gender and deviance to derive hypotheses concerning sex differences in drinking behavior, reactions of significant others to male and female intoxication, and the psychological consequences of drinking experiences. Self-Rejection and the Explanation of Deviance
This paper estimates a model of the relationship between self-rejection and deviance, mediated by disposition to deviance, to examine the linear structural equations in data provided by a threewave panel study of junior high school students. Using data from 2158 young adults who were 1st surveyed as 7th grade students in a random half of the junior high schools in the Independent School District of Houston Texas in 1971 multivariate casual models were tested to predict out-of-wedlock adolescent pregnancy.
