The longstanding urban–rural gap in contraceptive prevalence rates has bee…
The Pace of Fertility Decline in Iran
The fertility transition experiences of many countries in Asia have been very slow and stalling. Yet, Iranian fertility rates have shown signs of sharp decline. The recent censuses and surveys, both regional and national, all are consistent with a strong declining trend which started in the later part of 1980s and seem to be continuing into the new century. The Demographic and Health Survey of Iran shows below replacement level fertility for urba…

Psychometric Properties of a Persian Version of the Short Form of the Beck Depression Inventory for Iranian College Students
The psychometric properties of the short form of the Beck Depression Inventory were studied in two Iranian groups. The inventory was translated into Persian and 12 Iranian bilingual judges confirmed the soundness of the translation. The sample comprised two groups of Iranian college students, and data were analyzed separately for each group. Group I consisted of 232 Iranian students (156 men, 76 women) who were studying in American universities, …
Dimensionality of the Short Form of the Beck Depression Inventory
The abridged form of the Beck Depression Inventory was administered to 537 Iranian college students in the United States and in Iran. The results of factor analysis for students in Iranian colleges were similar to those in the United States. The rotated factor pattern of the combined data indicated two dimensions (negative self-view and physical withdrawal) embedded in the inventory that were similar to those reported by the author of the scale
A Father's Education as a Determinant of Socioeconomic and Cultural Characteristics of Families in a Sample of Iranian Adolescents
In order to find out the degree to which a father's education can be used as a predictor of the socioeconomic status (SES) of the family, 1,047 high school students in and around Shiraz, Iran were given a questionnaire covering a wide variety of issues.
