Employing Experiential Learning as a Tool to Teach Mindfulness Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (MCBT) to Latino Social Work Graduate Students
In this qualitative study, 28 Latino social work graduate students were trained on Mindfulness Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (MCBT) through experiential learning. The students explored their self-perceived maladaptive behaviors through three stages of simple observation, advanced observation and intervention. An online survey examined environmental beliefs and concern about animal welfare among 105 social work students in the U.S.- Mexico border region. A narrative analysis of interviews with 50 women who were working for social change as professionals or volunteers revealed three motivations for activism: (a) to ensure rights, (b) to fulfill responsibilities, and (c) to restore relationships and build community.
