  • Single-parameter and parameter combination errors in L2 productions of Swiss German Sign Language

Open Access•Sarah Ebling, Katja Tissi et al.•ARTICLE•Sign Language & Linguistics•2021

This article presents a study of errors made by hearing adult L2 learners of Swiss German Sign Language ( Deutschschweizerische Gebärdensprache , DSGS). As part of a statistical analysis of single-parameter errors, movement was found to be the parameter most susceptible to errors, followed by location, orientation, and handshape. An analysis of production errors with respect to combinations of manual parameters was also conducted, something that …

  • Language research and language community change

Sabina Fontana, Serena Corazza et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of the…•2015•Referências: 13

By providing evidence that sign language is an autonomous language, research has contributed to various changes both within and beyond the signing communities. The aim of this article is to show an example of how sign language change is driven not only by language internal factors but also by changes in language perception, as well as in the changing groups of users and the contexts of use. Drawing from data collected at a sign language research …

  • Rhythmic Temporal Patterns in the Signing of Deaf Early and Late Learners of Swiss German Sign Language

    Open Access•Penny Boyes Braem•ARTICLE•Language and Speech•1999•Citada por: 5•Referências: 28

In a study comparing the signing of deaf early and late learners of Swiss German Sign Language, the project's deaf researchers were struck by the difference in the production of the signs by the two groups of signers. Specifically, they felt that the early learners' signing was easier to watch and to understand because it was somehow more “rhythmic.” In order to discover reasons for this impression, analyses were made of temporal aspects of the p…
