  • A Preliminary Analysis of Psychiatric Service Dog Placements and Sleep Patterns of Partners of Veterans With PTSD

    Leanne O Nieforth, Sarah C Leighton et al.•ARTICLE•Anthrozoös•2024•Citada por: 1•Referências: 44

Partners of veterans diagnosed with posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) are at risk of a variety of challenges, and it is unknown whether psychiatric service dogs are disruptive to their sleep or provide similar benefits that are seen in the limited literature on veterans. As part of a larger clinical trial examining the efficacy of psychiatric service dogs for veterans with PTSD and their families, this study focused on sleep patterns of vetera…

  • Declining Gaze to Faces in Infants Developing Autism Spectrum Disorder: Evidence From Two Independent Cohorts

    Open Access•Devon N Gangi, Sofie Boterberg et al.•ARTICLE•Child Development•2021

Two independent cohorts (N = 155, N = 126) of infants at high and low risk for autism spectrum disorder (ASD) were followed prospectively between 6 and 36 months of age, when n = 46 were diagnosed with ASD. Gaze to adult faces was coded—during a developmental assessment (Cohort 1) or a play interaction (Cohort 2). Across both cohorts, most children developing ASD showed sharp declines in gaze to faces over time, relative to children without ASD. …

  • Sleep and Attachment in Preterm Infants

    Open Access•A J Schwichtenberg, Prachi E Shah et al.•ARTICLE•Infant Mental Health Journal•2013•Citada por: 1•Referências: 46

Infants born preterm are at elevated risk for socioemotional difficulties; however, factors contributing to this risk are largely understudied. Within the present study, we explored infant sleep as a biosocial factor that may play a role in infant socioemotional development. Within a prospective longitudinal design, we examined parent‐reported sleep patterns and observed parenting quality as predictors of infant–mother attachment in 171 infants b…

  • Compliance, opposition, and behavior problems in toddlers born preterm or low birthweight

    Open Access•Julie Poehlmann, A J Schwichtenberg et al.•ARTICLE•Infant Mental Health Journal•2012•Referências: 43

Although children born preterm or low birth weight (PT LBW) are more likely to exhibit behavior problems compared to children born at term, developmental and family processes associated with these problems are unclear. We examined trajectories of maternal depressive symptoms in relation to toddler compliance and behavior problems in families with PT LBW infants. A total of 177 infants (93 boys, 84 girls) and their mothers enrolled in the study du…

  • Infant physiological regulation and maternal risks as predictors of dyadic interaction trajectories in families with a preterm infant

    Julie Poehlmann, A J Schwichtenberg et al.•ARTICLE•Developmental Psychology•2011•Citada por: 3•Referências: 5

This longitudinal study examined predictors of rates of growth in dyadic interaction quality in children born preterm who did not experience significant neurological findings during neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) hospitalization. Multiple methods were used to collect data from 120 preterm infants (48% girls, 52% boys) and their mothers. Infant heart rate variability (HRV), gestational age, neonatal health, feeding route, and maternal socioec…
