This article discusses the need to mentor women faculty of color on how to achieve and maintain work – life balance. We present a critical analysis of the emerging literature on mentoring women faculty of color using the frameworks of critical race feminist theory, womanist theory, and social identity theory. This qualitative research project examines the financial struggles of Temporary Cash Assistance (TCA) recipients using 20 in-depth interviews and five focus groups, guided by womanist and intersectional theoretical frameworks to center lived experience, racialized gendered labor, and structural inequality.
