This article analyzes the use of several response particles in face-to-face interaction in Wa'ikhana, an East Tukano language of northwestern Amazonia. Neste trabalho, examinamos a situação de contato linguístico Aruák/Tukano Oriental no noroeste amazônico e seus efeitos em línguas TO da sub-região do Uaupés. Consideramos também algumas hipóteses propostas em Aikhenvald 2002 quanto à natureza da difusão em situações de contato (múltilaterial/unilateral, direta/indireta) e os resultados linguísticos (enriquecimento vs. empobrecimento /abandono de padrões)
