  • The impact of income support interventions on children’s long-term health trajectories

Open Access•Francesca Candelora, Silvia Maritano et al.•ARTICLE•BMC Public Health•2025

The delivery of income support interventions at an early age has positive short-term health impacts on children. However, less is known about whether those effects are sustained later in life. We addressed this question by systematically reviewing the literature on long-term (i.e., assessed after 5 + years) health impacts of income support interventions delivered in preschool age (in utero to 5 years). We focused only on experimental or quasi-exp…

  • The impact of a decade of digital transformation on employment, wages, and inequality in the EU

Open Access•Matteo Guido Richiardi, Leonie Westhoff et al.•ARTICLE•Socio-Economic Review•2025•Referências: 36

We study the effects of digital transformation in the European Union on individual employment outcomes, wage growth, and income inequality, during the decade 2010-9. Our results allow us to formulate a 'conveyor-belt' hypothesis suggesting that employment confers a competitive advantage in navigating the digital transition due to the accumulation of pertinent skills in the workplace. Because digital skills are acquired with the changing demands o…

  • Association between individual level characteristics and take-up of a Minimum Income Guarantee for Pensioners

Open Access•Heather Brown, Viviana Albani et al.•ARTICLE•Social Sciences & Humanities Open•2024

A Minimum Income Guarantee (MIG) ensures people have a minimum amount of income for essentials such as healthy food, housing, health care, social and digital networks to support health and well-being. MIGs could be a useful tool to reduce inequalities. A MIG will only be effective if those who are eligible take it up. The aim of this paper is to explore how individual characteristics were associated with take-up of a MIG for pensioners (aged 60+ …

  • Evaluating the influence of taxation and social security policies on psychological distress

  • Forecasting recovery from Covid-19 using financial data

    Open Access•Jesse Lastunen, Matteo Guido Richiardi•ARTICLE•World Development Perspectives•2023•Referências: 1

We develop a new methodology to nowcast the effects of the COVID-19 crisis on GDP and forecast its evolution in small, export-oriented countries. To this aim, we exploit variation in financial indexes at the industry level in the early stages of the crisis and relate them to the expected duration of the crisis for each industry, under the assumption that the main shocks to financial prices in 2020 came from COVID-19. Starting from the latest offi…

  • Measuring Child Socio-Economic Position in Birth Cohort Research

Open Access•Costanza Pizzi, Matteo Richiardi et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2020

The assessment of early life socioeconomic position (SEP) is essential to the tackling of social inequalities in health. Although different indicators capture different SEP dimensions, maternal education is often used as the only indicator in birth cohort research, especially in multi-cohort analyses. Household income, as a direct measure of material resources, is one of the most important indicators, but one that is underused because it is diffi…
