  • Understanding the spatial diffusion dynamics of the Covid-19 pandemic in the city system in China

    Open Access•Lijuan Gu, Linsheng Yang et al.•ARTICLE•Social Science & Medicine•2022•Referências: 39

  • Identification of spatial patterns and sources of heavy metals in greenhouse soils using geostatistical and positive matrix factorization ( PMF ) methods

Open Access•Min Meng, Linsheng Yang et al.•ARTICLE•Land Degradation and Development•2021

Greenhouse vegetable products are important dietary sources. Heavy metals in greenhouse soils are associated with food safety and public health. Therefore, heavy metals in greenhouse soils are of significant concern. This study used positive matrix factorization (PMF) and geostatistical analyses to assess possible sources and spatial distribution patterns of heavy metals in 248 greenhouse soil samples obtained from southern Hebei Province, China.…

  • An exploratory study of neighbourhood heterogeneity in health

Lijuan Gu, Linsheng Yang et al.•ARTICLE•Local Environment•2020

A systematic understanding of the potential contribution of the neighbourhood in explaining health inequalities remains an under-researched area. To quantify the importance of the neighbourhood in explaining health, by conducting pooled cross-sectional investigations of 49,602 adult participants, this study has hierarchically examined the magnitude of neighbourhood heterogeneity in different health outcomes in five Chinese provinces from 2010 to …

  • A spatial multilevel analysis of the impacts of housing conditions on county-level life expectancy at birth in China

    Open Access•Lijuan Gu, Mark W Rosenberg et al.•ARTICLE•Applied Geography•2020

  • The Availability and Accumulation of Heavy Metals in Greenhouse Soils Associated with Intensive Fertilizer Application

Open Access•B Wei, Jiangping Yu et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2020

In China, greenhouse agriculture, which provides abundant vegetable products for human consumption, has been rapidly developed in recent decades. Heavy metal accumulation in greenhouse soil and products obtained have received increasing attention. Therefore, the availability and accumulation of cadmium (Cd), copper (Cu), nickel (Ni), lead (Pb), and zinc (Zn) and their association with soil pH, soil organic matter (SOM), inorganic nitrogen (IN), t…

  • Temporal Variation and Ecological Risk Assessment of Metals in Soil Nearby a Pb–Zn Mine in Southern China

Open Access•Congcong Cao, Li Wang et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2018

Metal contamination in soil from tailings induces risks for the ecosystem and for humans. In this study, the concentrations and ecological risks of Cd, Cu, Pb, and Zn in soil contaminated by a tailing from Yangshuo (YS) lead and zinc (Pb−Zn) mine, which collapsed for more than 40 years, were determined in 2015. The mean concentrations of Zn, Pb, Cu, and Cd were 1301.79, 768.41, 82.60, and 4.82 mg/kg, respectively, which, with years of remediation…

  • Exploring Increasing Divorce Rates in West Germany

Michael Wagner, Lisa Schmid et al.•ARTICLE•European Sociological Review•2015•Citada por: 9•Referências: 32

We investigate the upward trend of divorce rates in West Germany since the middle of the 1930s by testing hypotheses on the changing socio-structural composition of marriage cohorts and on changes of the divorce behavior of different socio-structural subgroups. Hypotheses were derived by linking the parameters of three theoretical micro models that explain marital stability—the exchange, the investment, and the microeconomic model—to four societa…

  • On the Variation of Divorce Risks in Europe

Michael Wagner, B Wei et al.•ARTICLE•European Sociological Review•2006•Citada por: 35

The aim of this article is to integrate empirical research on divorce risks in Europe and to explain the variation of empirical findings between European countries by the different levels of modernization and differences in the strength of marriage norms. We focus on the effects of premarital cohabitation, the presence of children, and the experience with parental divorce on marital stability. More than 260 studies on divorce risks could be ident…

  • Presence of nicotine in prehistoric skeletal remains in southern China

    Svetlana Balabanova, B Wei et al.•ARTICLE•Anthropologischer Anzeiger•1996

Human remains from excavation sites in southern China, dated from 100 to 10,000 years, were investigated for nicotine. The nicotine concentrations were measured by radioimmunoassay. Consequently, the values measured represent the sum of nicotine and its metabolites. Positive results were observed in 25.9% (mean values of all samples). The concentrations ranged from 11.8 to 474.2 ng/g sample. From the excavation sites with the highest number of in…
