Officers’ perspectives of policing alcohol-related incidents in and around licensed premises
Alcohol-related harms are disproportionately represented in licensed premises. This study aimed to investigate the practices and perceived capabilities of a group of police officers who engage in policing activities in and around licensed premises in a capital city policing district in an Australian jurisdiction. The term 'popular music' encompasses a huge range and variety of styles. This article reasons that the adoption of a sociological approach, and in particular Becker's 'art worlds' perspective, brings some analytic clarity and methodological rigor to studies of musicians' work in an otherwise diverse array of styles and contexts.
