Excavation and Survey at Higher Woodhill Mill, Bury
Recent landscaping and conservation works on the site of the long-demolished Higher Woodhill Mill provided an opportunity for limited excavation and recording work on this early water-powered cotton-spinning factory. Evidence suggested that a new large waterwheel and beam engine were installed as complementary features in the mid-nineteenth century, and the recent work concentrated upon the physical remains related to these features. Changes in immune and psychological measures as a function of anticipation and reaction to news of HIV-1 antibody status
We assessed changes in psychological and immunological functioning during 5-week periods preceding and following notification of serostatus among gay males taking the HIV-1 antibody test. Forty-six asymptomatic homosexual men between the ages of 18 and 40 yrs were recruited from a gay men's organization and through advertisements in a local newspaper. Needle/syringe combinations were collected from three shooting galleries in South Florida and tested for the presence of antibodies to HIV-1. Fifteen of 148 needles (10.1 percent) tested positive for HIV-1 antibody. Seropositivity rates did not vary by the day of the week of collection, nor by shooting gallery from which they were collected. A computerised search method is described to identify every possible rectangular structure within set parameters from post hole distributions. Results are obtained from a dense distribution within Danebury hillfort and tested statistically by comparison with results from simulations and a mathematical model.
