Este trabalho discute as implicações da decisão do STF que amplia o número de beneficiários do Benefício de Prestação Continuada ao flexibilizar o limite de renda para seu recebimento. A Corte realizou uma escolha distributiva e política com custos de oportunidade significativos, o que fica claro quando os efeitos dessa decisão são comparados ao de políticas como o Bolsa Família e o Brasil Carinhoso
