  • The History of Evolution of Life on Earth Told by Paleoparasitology

    Open Access•Daniela Leles•ARTICLE•Global Journal of Archaeology &…•2017

Through the study of parasites and other microorganisms in ancient material Paleoparasitology can presuppose on the way of life of our ancestors, established relations with and between animals and the environment, and their reflexes until the contemporary period dealing with several areas of knowledge. Therefore, it has been possible to recover intestinal parasites from coprolites of Cinodontes and Dicionodontes dating to 240mya, a group with imp…

  • Paleoepidemiology of Intestinal Parasites and Lice in Pre-Columbian South America

    Open Access•Adauto Araujo, K Reinhard et al.•ARTICLE•Chungara•2011•Citada por: 3

Some human parasites originated in prehominid ancestors in Africa. Nematode species, such as Enterobius vermicularis (pinworm), hookworms and Trichuris trichiura are shared by humans and other close phylogenetic primates (Pan and Gorilla), showing that they infected a common ancestor to this group. When humans migrated from Africa to other continents they carried these parasites wherever climate conditions allowed parasite transmission from host …
