Roman Republican Imperialism in Italy and the West
Globalization Avant la Lettre
The historiography of the Roman Empire overstates the "local" integrity of Roman and non-Roman culture, and de-emphasizes the interconnections and proto-global essence of imperial society. Revisiting these interconnections suggests that the Roman Empire was a precursor to modern-day globalization

From Mycenae to Constantinople
Tomlinson presents studies of selected ancient cities, ranging from the earliest development of urban architecture in Europe to the imperial cities of Rome and Constantinople. It gives an account of their architecture, not merely from the art historical point of view, but as an expression of the social organisation, and political systems employed by the people who lived in them

The significance of the African provinces is well-appreciated in historical studies of the Roman Empire, but there is a distinct lack of good summaries in English on recent developments in the field of study. In 1987 fieldwork was continued in Sector 1, approximately 17 kms south of Kasserine (ancient Cillium). A total of eighty-nine sites dating primarily to the first through sixt c. was recorded. These included settlements, tombs and cemeteries, and field and irrigation systems. Particularly noteworthy among the finds were the large agricultural production centers KS 223 and 225.
