Sexual violence in the Irish Civil War
This article provides a detailed analysis of conflict-related rapes and sexual assaults perpetrated in the period covering the Irish Civil War and its immediate aftermath. The impact transgressive sexual violence had on individual women attacked, their families and communities, and the direct involvement of the army and government in investigating these cases, is examined.
