The destruction of the South Bronx in the 1970s has been documented as an urban phenomenon unique in scope. However, the photographs of vacant and burnt-out buildings, rubble and debris have tended to overshadow the continuing presence of people living and surviving in this devastated environment. Recombinant Reflections
One of the expectations of science, from both substantive and network perspectives, is its cumulative nature. It is a strong hope that scientific research and analysis promote an extension of knowledge as a function of critique and as a stimulus for extension. Social activism and psychiatrists in community mental health centers
A sample of psychiatrists (n = 72) working in 20 community mental health centers (CMHCs) representative of the organizational and catchment area characteristics of operating Centers were queried as part of a larger study (n = 595) of community mental health worker roles. The nature and correlates of community mental health ideology in community mental health centers
Five hundred ninety-five staff at 20 CMHCs were surveyed as part of a large study of mental health worker roles. Data on the endorsement of the ideology of community mental health (CMHI) were obtained. Significant associations were found between ideology and level of education and time allocated to Direct and Indirect Services.
