Smoking behavior and sex-role orientation were investigated in two groups of women ( Ns, 487 and 376) and two of men ( Ns, 234 and 150). The hypotheses that persons with an androgynous orientation (high on both masculinity and femininity) would be less likely to smoke and better able to stop smoking were not confirmed. Smoking Behavior of Scientists
Academic biologists, chemists, mathematicians, and psychologists were surveyed to examine smoking rates among the various groups of scientists and to compare publication differences associated with smoking status. Smoking rates among these groups of scientists were, in general, quite low. A consistent tendency for greater publishing activity on the part of smokers than non-smokers or former smokers was observed

Methodological implications of content-acquiescence correlation in the MMPI
Acquiescence” in the MMPI
Analysis of the relationship between content type and true-false keying direction in the item pool from which the MMPI was constructed indicates a striking lack of independence. This suggests that previous evidence interpreted as indicating the importance of acquiescence response style in the MMPI is at least in part an artifact
Further Evidence concerning Acquiescence and the MMPI
94 normal and 100 schizophrenic Ss were tested with the MMPI and with a version of the MMPI composed of items reversed in meaning. Comparison of original and reversed items and scales indicated little if any of the variance of the original can be attributed to acquiescence response style. Several item-reversal studies of the MMPI are reviewed and a high degree of consistency is noted

Correlations among raw scores, standard scores, expected scores, scale lengths and means for 30 Ss given the MMPI were obtained in a replication of the 1961 study by Edwards and Walker.
