A 2.91-billion base pair (bp) consensus sequence of the euchromatic portion of the human genome was generated by the whole-genome shotgun sequencing method. Class I HLA antigens in two long‐separated populations
Class I HLA antigens have been compared in 5,835 Melanesians of Papua New Guinea and 2,028 Amerindians of South America. The sample includes 50 PNGMel ethnolinguistic groups and 22 SAmlnd groups. Both carry 15 serologically defined antigens and an undefined C allele. Linear growth rates in rural Papua New Guinea vary widely by environmental zone. The 1982/83 National Nutrition Survey was a stratified cluster sample survey including questions on diet and anthropometry of children under five years of age.
