Unlocking Investment for the Water‐Energy‐Food‐Ecosystems Nexus
Blended finance has emerged as a strategic solution to the multifaceted challenges of projects that navigate the intricate interplay of water, energy, food, and ecosystems, ultimately contributing to the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This empirical study explores the key factors influencing blended finance, through private capital mobilization, within the context of water‐energy‐food‐ecosystems (WEFE). For this purpose, a p…

Connecting forest management priorities and social preferences for Aleppo Pine ecosystem services
Aleppo Pine forests provide several ecosystem services for the local population as well as for the society in Tunisia. Knowing the citizens’ preferences is crucial to guide forest management strategies. This study aims to determine the social demand for key benefits provided by forests using the choice experiment modelling. Results show a high social awareness of the benefits derived from forests suggesting that citizens are willing to support fo…
Assessing the environmental contribution of clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeats (CRISPR) rice in the presence of insect pest uncertainty
Adopting genome editing with the trait of pest resistance contributes to sustainable development by reducing pesticide use. Developed by Clustered Regularly Interspaced Short Palindromic Repeats (CRISPR) technology, CRISPR rice is resistant to two of its most destructive insect pests. However, there exists a trade-off between pest resistance and lower potential yield. In the presence of uncertainty of pest severity, adopting CRISPR rice demonstra…
Price transmission during food safety incidents
Are prices converging in the global sawnwood market
This paper aims at addressing if the increasing globalization in the international sawnwood markets has caused export prices to converge to a single reference price or, alternatively, certain restrictions remain to generate a segmented market where different reference prices for each market segment co-exist. Annual price series for the top-10 exporting countries are considered for that purpose. Results show that the data cannot support the null h…

The economic, environmental and social performance of European certified food
Linking risk attitudes, time preferences, and body mass index in Catalonia
Modelling Price Transmission within the Supply Chain under a European Protected Designation of Origin Framework
Lately, we have witnessed how European Institutions have directed many efforts at improving the effectiveness of food quality schemes (FQS) to address the increasing complexity that has affected all elements of the operating structure of agrifood supply chains worldwide, especially prices. In this paper, we conduct a comparative analysis of the price transmission process in the dairy sector between farm and retail markets within the protected des…
