An intercollegiate athletic hall of fame stands as a nostalgic monument to the achievements of athletes, coaches, and other icons. These halls of fame, in addition to more traditional sport museums, draw a variety alumni, students, and tourists. Using Concept Mapping to Promote Community Building
While many organizations recognize the value of community building, they often encounter difficulty in actualizing projects and developing tangible results. This article presents how a planning and evaluation method known as concept mapping was used to drive a community building effort by a large not-for-profit organization in Chicago around the issue of at-risk African American male youth. Memory for Event Frequency as a Function of Depression, Age, Intentionality, and Level of Processing
In two experiments, we examined memory for event frequency among depressed and/or elderly subjects (depression was either naturally occurring or induced by the Velten technique). We also manipulated level of processing and instructional set to test the notion that memory for event frequency is relatively invariant across a variety of tasks. Results supported the proposal that memory for frequency is robust in the face of depression and old age. M…

Intellective Correlates of Preschoolers' Spontaneous Play
Thirty-four middle class four-year-old preschoolers were observed in free play for 20 one-minute observations and behavior was coded for cognitive and social play. Five conservation tasks and the Raven Progressive Matrices and Peabody Picture Vocabulary Test were administered to each child. Degree of Pathology as Related To Readiness To Accept Labels in Process and Reactive Schizophrenics
TWO experiments were performed in order to determine whether readiness to accept deviant labels, as measured by acquiescence set, interacts with type of schizophrenia (process vs. reactive) to influence level of pathology. It was found on both a behavioral measure and a psychometric measure of psychopathology that high acquiescent process schizophrenics manifested more pathology than did either low acquiescent process or reactive schizophrenics, …
