Discrimination, Self‐Compassion, and Family Factors in Suicide Risk Among Asian Young Adults
This cross‐sectional quantitative study examines how discrimination and self‐compassion moderate the associations between family factors (i.e., shame and perfectionism) and perceived burdensomeness (a suicidal risk factor) in an Asian sample. An Omnibus Synthesis of Author and Article Publication Characteristics in 22 Counseling Journals from 2010 to 2019
Articles published in 22 counseling journals from 2010–2019 were compared on 26 author and article characteristics. Women now constitute majorities of authorship and counseling journals are publishing larger proportions of research articles, 63% of which used quantitative approaches and about 11% of which studied counseling interventions

Multiracial Identity, Color‐Blind Racial Ideology, and Discrimination
Because of the expansive multiracial population growth in the United States, the authors explored multiracial identity integration (MII), color‐blind racial ideology (CBRI), and discrimination using regression analyses with 288 individuals. CBRI and discrimination significantly correlated and predicted MII, with 15.3% of the variance explained by discrimination and CBRI. Motivational Interviewing Training
We examined student outcomes following a semester-length course in Motivational Interviewing (MI) through 2 different pilot studies. Through Study 1 we examined within-group differences, whereas Study 2 allowed us to examine between-group differences. Both studies revealed gains in counselors'-in-training knowledge, attitudes, and empathic helping responses following participation in a semester-long course in MI
How do sexual minority men experience burnout in the mental health field
This constructivist-grounded-theory qualitative study examined the experiences of burnout among sexual minority identified, male, mental health practitioners. Twenty-one people participated in semi-structured, in-depth interviews. All counselors, including students, are responsible for intervening when a colleague shows signs of impairment. This grounded theory study investigated experiences of 12 counseling students who reported problematic peers. Technical Analysis of Teacher Responses to the Self-Evaluation Scale-Teacher (SES-T) Version
The Self-Evaluation Scale—Teacher version, used to assess teacher perceived self-esteem of students, was analyzed. A unidimensional model emerged from exploratory factor analysis, with cautious acceptance of data fit. The Wellness Evaluation of Lifestyle (WEL), developed in English, was translated into Korean, field tested, then administered to Korean American adolescents. Means were similar for participants completing the scale in both languages. Challenges to the adaptation process, recommendations for further study of the Korean WEL, and implications for cross-cultural wellness research are discussed
