Jealousy and the Social Psychology of Emotional Experience
Jealousy is investigated as a focus for the symbolic interactionist analysis of emotion. We define jealousy in terms of the features of the contexts in which it is evoked. Women, Karate, and Gender Typing
When women have the physical ability to overcome men, a major basis of cognitive categorization is violated and dissonance created. Two dissonance-resolving mechanisms take place-derision and denial. A study of women trained in Karate1 provided an opportunity to examine these dissonance-reducing mechanisms. Results from fieldwork and questionnaires administered to both participants in Karate and a sample of students reveal that dissonace created …

Viewing leadership behavior as a joint function of situational factors, individual predispositions, and followers' responsive behavior, this study used 64 subjects, half of them high and half of them low in measured leadership self-concept. Half had a high and half a low stake in a group task. Students and the Politics of Reality
During the period in which student movements on campus were at their height, students participated in a study, presumably to ascertain attitudes towards campus life. The study attempted to make explicit the very processes of negotiating for reality. By using confederates, subjects were confronted with a choice between accepting the officially sponsored faculty version of their activity as work assignment or rejecting this as merely another experi…
Honesty, Fabrication, and the Enhancement of Credibility

Sixty-four subjects, (half qualified and half unqualified), went through two job interview situations-one supportive, the other suspicious. Generality of Willingness to Take Risks
Intercorrelations were computed among measures of chance risk and interpersonal risk-taking for 120 undergraduate Ss. While low, correlations were in the hypothesized direction, with 6 of 20 exceeding the .05 level. The findings suggest some generality of willingness to take risks over both the material and interpersonal areas
