Bringing together two sites of carework, the human household and the chimpanzee sanctuary, this article considers the limits of a politics of precarity, where vulnerabilities and differences are conceptualized as shared rather than hierarchical. Telling Stories of Trafficking
Human trafficking has gained attention world-wide, and stories about victimization and violence help to define the so-called underground activities of trafficking. Rather than ask what counts as an instance of human trafficking, this essay considers how we come to see one situation as trafficking and not another. The essay asks what is at stake in prioritizing certain narratives over others, and what such prioritizing takes for granted
