A comparison of the long‐term effectiveness of distraction and focusing in the treatment of auditory hallucinations
Cognitive‐behavioural interventions for patients experiencing neuroleptic resistant auditory hallucinations have fallen into two main categories: those which encourage distraction as a coping strategey, and those which encourage patients to focus on or expose themselves to their hallucinations. The measurement of ‘conflict’ in repertory grids
Following on from Lauterbach's technique for assessing psychological conflict in triads of concepts, a similar method of conflict analysis is applied to personal constructs. A computer program designed to analyse both ‘ranked’ and ‘graded’ grids has been developed and the steps in this program, together with a description of the output, is delineated.
