The influence of attitudes towards statistics on statistical proficiency among medical students
BACKGROUND: Statistics education is essential for evidence-based medical practice, yet many medical students face challenges in achieving statistical proficiency. While attitudes, anxiety, and self-efficacy are known to influence learning, the sequential pathways through which they interact remain unclear. This study examines a chain mediation model to clarify how attitudes towards statistics forecast proficiency through statistics anxiety and se…
Effect of organization care on knowledge hiding
Employee knowledge hiding severely hinders organizational innovation, yet how a positive organizational care climate inhibits this behavior remains insufficiently understood. Most existing single-theory explanations fail to clearly articulate the complete psychological pathway linking environmental resources to individual behaviors. This study integrates Conservation of Resources Theory and Affective Events Theory to systematically construct and …
Associations between short-term exposure to fine particulate matter with ischemic stroke mortality and the role of green space
Background: on IS mortality and the role of green space in the association. Methods: and green space on IS mortality. Results: and NDVI exhibited significant interactive effects on IS mortality, with relative excess odds due to interaction (REOI) of greater than 0. Conclusions: levels, can help prevent premature deaths from IS
Ambient PM2.5 and O3 and their combined effects on the onset of acute cardiovascular events
PM 2.5 and O 3 are risk factors for ACE onset, particularly on the day of onset and the day before. Moreover, we found no significant interaction of PM 2.5 and O 3 on ACE onset. Reducing PM 2.5 and O 3 concentrations and avoiding exposure to high levels of these pollutants in the early phase may mitigate ACE onset. Targeted policies aimed at reducing PM 2.5 and O 3 pollution should be developed to mitigate their adverse health effects among high-…
Nonlinear and potential driving impacts of meteorological and air pollution factors on influenza-like illness in Jinan, China
This study demonstrated that both the DLNM and EDM methods consistently revealed the complex and nonlinear effects of specific environmental factors on influenza infection. Specifically, TCN > 5 °C, AP > 1100 hPa, and SO 2 > 60 [Formula: see text]g/m 3 were associated with increased risk of influenza infection. Children aged 0-4 years and individuals aged 5-59 years exhibit different susceptibility patterns to environmental factors. These finding…
Tuberculosis patients’ delay in healthcare access and its associated factors in Shandong Province, China
This study demonstrates that tuberculosis patients' delay is influenced by ecological factors such as the proportion of the elderly population and the number of healthcare facilities, as well as individual factors including gender, age, occupation, and sputum smear results, with patient source and occupation identified as the most significant determinants of delay
Meteorological factors and normalized difference vegetation index drivers of scrub typhus incidence in Shandong Province based on a 16-year time-frequency analysis
Meteorological factors and NDVI play important roles in the occurrence of scrub typhus in Shandong Province. Moreover, temperature and precipitation can affect the role of NDVI. This study provides valuable recommendations and resources for the timely detection, mitigation, and management of scrub typhus in Shandong Province
Learning in the face of failure
This study aims to explore how learning performance differs for non‐diagnosed adults with high and low levels of autistic traits (ATs) for positive versus negative feedback delivered via social and nonsocial stimuli. College student participants were tested on their ability to learn novel words (i.e., Korean characters) in a simple memory experiment incorporating either positive or negative feedback. A 2 (positive feedback vs. negative feedback) …

Biochar Blended with Nitrogen Fertilizer Promotes Maize Yield by Altering Soil Enzyme Activities and Organic Carbon Content in Black Soil
Biochar and nitrogen fertilizers are known to increase soil carbon storage and reduce soil nitrogen loss as amendments, suggesting a promising strategy for highly effectively increasing soil productivity. However, few studies have explored the mechanisms of their effects on crop yield in terms of active carbon fraction and enzyme activity, which ultimately limits the potential for the application of biochar in combination with nitrogen fertilizer…
Identifying Anthropogenic Sources of Heavy Metals in Alpine Peatlands over the Past 150 Years
Alpine mountain peatlands are valuable archives of climatic and anthropogenic impact. However, the impacts of human activities on the Altay peatlands are poorly documented. Therefore, studying heavy metal (HM) concentrations, evaluating HM pollution levels, and identifying the sources in the Altay Mountain peatlands are crucial for revealing the intensity of human activities. The present study was performed on two peatland profiles: Jiadengyu (JD…
Estimation of the relationship between meteorological factors and measles using spatiotemporal Bayesian model in Shandong Province, China
Meteorological factors have an important impact on measles. It is crucial to integrate these factors into public health policies for measles prevention and control in China
Affirming who I am
Purpose Previous research has demonstrated that affirming an individual’s self-worth in intrinsic, stable aspects (e.g. personal attributes) enhances their pro-relationship tendencies, as compared to affirming extrinsic aspects of the individual (e.g. performance). This is especially so among people in certain dissatisfying relationships (e.g. romantic relationships). Extending this finding to organizational contexts, the purpose of this study is…
Estimating the Instantaneous Asymptomatic Proportion With a Simple Approach
Background: The asymptomatic proportion is a critical epidemiological characteristic that modulates the pandemic potential of emerging respiratory virus, which may vary depending on the nature of the disease source, population characteristics, source–host interaction, and environmental factors. Methods: We developed a simple likelihood-based framework to estimate the instantaneous asymptomatic proportion of infectious diseases. Taking the COVID-1…
Exploring the Relationship between Mumps and Meteorological Factors in Shandong Province, China Based on a Two-Stage Model
We have identified a non-linear relationship between mumps and temperature in Shandong Province. In particular, low temperatures could bring more cases of mumps, with certain lagged effects. More public health measures should be taken to reduce the risks when temperatures are low, especially for cities with a high proportion of primary and secondary school students
Epidemiological Characteristics and Regional Risk Prediction of Hemorrhagic Fever with Renal Syndrome in Shandong Province, China
HFRS in Shandong Province has shown seasonal and spatial clustering characteristics. Middle-aged and elderly farmers are a high-risk population. The BRT model has satisfactory predictive capability in stratifying the regional risk of HFRS at a county level in Shandong Province, which could serve as an important tool for risk assessment of HFRS to deploy prevention and control measures
Epidemiological characteristics and spatiotemporal analysis of hand-foot-mouth diseases from 2010 to 2019 in Zibo city, Shandong, China
Hot spots mainly concentrated in the central and surrounding city of Zibo city. We suggest that imminent public health planning and resource allocation should be focused within those areas

A Multicity Analysis of the Short-Term Effects of Air Pollution on the Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease Hospital Admissions in Shandong, China
Although there is growing evidence linking chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) hospital admissions to the exposure to ambient air pollution, the effect can vary depending on the local geography, pollution type, and pollution level. The number of large-scale multicity studies remains limited in China. This study aims to assess the short-term effects of ambient air pollution (PM 2.5 , PM 10 , SO2, NO2) on chronic obstructive pulmonary dise…
Forecasting the Incidence of Mumps in Zibo City Based on a Sarima Model
This study aimed to predict the incidence of mumps using a seasonal autoregressive integrated moving average (SARIMA) model, and provide theoretical evidence for early warning prevention and control in Zibo City, Shandong Province, China. Monthly mumps data from Zibo City gathered between 2005 and 2013 were used as a training set to construct a SARIMA model, and the monthly mumps in 2014 were defined as a test set for the model. From 2005 to 2014…
Prosocial behavior in envy scenarios
We investigated prosocial behavior in different envy conditions. Participants ( N = 118) responded to partners' requests for help after taking part in either a control scenario or scenarios where they felt that their partner was envious of them based on their performance (input), a reward (output), or both (input–output). Results showed significantly different levels of prosocial behavior, with this being highest in the output envy scenario and l…
