Revisiting Tichitt
The stone-built sites of Dhar Tichitt, Mauritania, occupy a central place in the history and archaeology of West Africa, testifying to village growth after 2000 BC. The 1968 excavations there by Patrick Munson at a dozen sites within a 40-km-long study area produced foundational data and radiocarbon dates that shaped early interpretive frameworks of the Tichitt Tradition. Radiocarbon Dating on Echo Micadas, Lsce, Gif-Sur-Yvette, France
The Laboratoire des Sciences du Climat et de l’Environnement (LSCE) has operated a radiocarbon dating laboratory for almost 70 years. It has evolved from a traditional ß-decay counting to an accelerator mass spectrometry facility. In 2015, the LSCE received a major upgrade with the installation of a MICADAS.
