Black Poetic Inquiry
The poems in this project were written within a 24‐hour period of each other and are presented in order of their appearance for the month of January 2024. Bodies Yearning on the Borders of Becoming

This short essay serves as an introduction to the Special Issue, while also establishing an argument for the importance of critical autoethnographic reflections on how 'western/cowboy and Indian' movies shape the emotional, political, ethical, gendered and cultural lives of viewers; establishing a social consciousness of race, sex, gender, class and the hierarchical notions of human rights
Resisting (Resistance) Stories
This is a triple autoethnographic text written by three men of differing racial and cultural backgrounds with the purpose of exploring the nature of their relationships with their fathers. The authors reflect on experiences with their fathers seeking to find answers that might help them resist the replication of pain in their own parenting as well as (in one instance) the resistance to parenting altogether. In each intersecting movement the voice…
Bu(o)ying Condoms
This article uses the experience of buying condoms at the grocery store and the free availability of condoms in gay bars as both a literal and figurative analogy for the tensive social issue of negotiating sex and sexuality. It posits the condom both as preventive agent for the spread of disease and as an erotic trigger for the social sexual imaginary. This article uses and advocates the use of interpretive ethnography as a method of pedagogical reflexivity and scholarly production. Specifically, it seeks to further the discussion of the classroom as a cultural site that places the teacher as both participant and observer in the intense cultural negotiation of lived experience, curriculum, and politics of education. Using the constructive metaphor of pedagogy as drag, the project also suggests …
