An Empirical Test of the Impact of Sci-Tech Finance Development on Rural Industrial Convergence
This study examines the impact of Sci-tech Finance on rural industrial integration in China. Findings indicate that Sci-tech Finance has a significant positive effect on rural industrial integration. Additionally, impulse response analysis reveals that Sci-tech Finance has a more significant long-term positive impact on rural industrial integration. Further variance decomposition demonstrates that, although the variance contribution rate of Sci-t…
The intended and unintended results of medical innovation and innovation race
From human mobility to building functions
From Street View Imagery to the Countryside
Evaluating residents’ subjective perceptions of the rural environment is crucial for formulating effective rural planning. Due to the difficulty in obtaining rural data and the limitations of traditional questionnaire survey methods, existing research mostly focuses on small-scale perception evaluations in specific areas, making it difficult to reveal rural perception characteristics at the regional scale. To address this issue, our study propose…

Research on the Efficiency of Green Agricultural Science and Technology Innovation Resource Allocation Based on a Three-Stage DEA Model—A Case Study of Anhui Province, China
In order to achieve sustainable development of agriculture, people have gradually begun to attach importance to the development of low-carbon agriculture and to regard green agricultural technology innovation and promotion as increasingly more important. Taking the Anhui Province of China as an example, this study analyzed the impact of green agricultural science and technology innovation resource allocation on rural revitalization by constructin…
Under the Dome
The spatial distribution of buildings is one of the key factors influencing the local environment within a city. The quantitative measurement of building distribution can provide critical information for exploring local climate patterns in urban areas. Previous studies mainly focused on the two-dimensional spatial distribution of buildings and ignored the differences in height. In this study, a three-dimensional (3D) urban texture model based on …
Phonetic accommodation of tone
Previous literature has documented phonetic accommodation for various segmental and suprasegmental features, but the accommodation of tone remains under-explored. The current study contributes to the literature by investigating the accommodation of two merging tones in Hong Kong Cantonese, mid-level Tone 3 (T3) and low-level Tone 6 (T6), in a speech shadowing experiment. Specifically, we ask whether shadowers will reverse the merging trend after …
Sensing Mixed Urban Land-Use Patterns Using Municipal Water Consumption Time Series
The biased population coverage and short temporal lengths of newly emerged data sets (e.g., data sets of social media, mobile phones, and smart cards) obstruct the effective analysis of long-term dynamics of landuse patterns, particularly in small and developing cities. This study proposed a framework to delineate and analyze mixed land-use patterns and their evolution using municipal water consumption data. A two-step classification strategy was…
Against Witness
76 Field Trip Against Witness: Anti- commemorative Asian/American Poetics A Pile of Past: Lawson Fusao Inada’s Anti-commemorative Poetics Timothy Yu Cathy Park Hong’s essay “Against Witness” offers a critique of a commonplace about poetry: that its primary political function is to bear witness to historical events. “In an era when eyewitness testimonies, photos, and videos are tweeted seconds after a catastrophe,” Hong (2015) writes, “poetry ’s…
On the cognitive basis of contact-induced sound change
This study investigates the source and status of a recent sound change in Shanghainese (Wu, Sinitic) that has been attributed to language contact with Mandarin. The change involves two vowels, /e/ and /ɛ/, reported to be merged three decades ago but produced distinctly in contemporary Shanghainese. Results of two production experiments show that speaker age, language mode (monolingual Shanghainese vs. bilingual Shanghainese-Mandarin), and crossli…
