  • Puzz-Ling

    Open Access•Luca Ducceschi, Roberto Zamparelli•ARTICLE•Language and Linguistics Compass•2018•Citada por: 1•Referências: 11

Modern theoretical linguistics is arguably a science with a well-defined methodology, relatively simple and inexpensive data-collection strategies and clear objectives, yet the study of human language is not widely recognized by the general public as a scientific endeavor. Formal syntax and semantics, for instance, have not been popularized, like physics, chemistry, or other hard sciences, and have very rarely found a space in science museums. In…

  • Coordinated Bare Definites

    Caroline Heycock, Roberto Zamparelli•ARTICLE•Linguistic Inquiry•2003•Citada por: 14•Referências: 7

Recent work on the syntax and semantics of functional projections within the noun phrase has had as one goal an explanation for the crosslinguistic distribution of "bare" (determinerless) noun phrases. This article provides an account for an apparent anomaly: the relatively free occurrence of bare noun phrases under coordination. We argue that this construction involves coordination of projections below the DP level, with the coordinated structur…

  • Copyright and Global Libraries

    Open Access•Roberto Zamparelli•ARTICLE•First Monday•1997

The current approach to the enforcement of copyright restrictions on intellectual properties to be distributed by electronic means (particularly, via the Web) aims at blocking unauthorised duplication by means of increasingly sophisticated protection systems (encryption, watermarks, net-active software, etc.). The paper argues that an approach of this kind runs counter to current technological trends, and that it should be eventually replaced by …
