Spatial data infrastructure as the means to assemble geographic information necessary for effective agricultural policies in Pakistan
Geospatial information is used to regularly estimate agricultural production for improving food security and economic indicators. Particularly, such estimates are vital for agriculture-based economies like Pakistan. However, poorly managed spatial information causes inaccurate agricultural estimates. Consequently, public policies such as agriculture policies often remain unsustainable to secure enough food and to uplift the rural economy. Against…
The Green‐Gender‐Governance Nexus
This research examines the effect of gender inequality, quality of government, female political empowerment, and engaged society on sustainable development in 19 Latin American countries. The study covers the period from 1990 to 2022 and employs advanced panel data techniques to explain the dynamics of sustainable development within the framework of the endogenous growth model. We employ a suite of advanced panel data techniques including cointeg…
Decomposition of socioeconomic inequalities in fruit and vegetable consumption in Pakistan
This study examines changes in fruit and vegetable consumption (FVC) across socioeconomic groups in Pakistan over two decades, using data from the Household Integrated Income and Consumption Surveys (HIICS) conducted in 1998-99 and 2018-19. Using a copula-based decomposition approach, the study disaggregates FVC inequality into structure and composition effects. The findings show an average per capita increase of 120.88 grams in FVC, with gains o…
National Spatial Data Infrastructure as a Catalyst for Good Governance and Policy Improvements in Pakistan
This study explores the potential of National Spatial Data Infrastructure (NSDI) to strengthen governance and policy processes in Pakistan. Drawing on the UNESCAP principles of good governance and the EGU policy cycle model, this research applies a dual-method approach combining thematic document analysis of 23 national policy frameworks and a stakeholder survey (n = 28). The results reveal that while many policies reference spatial data conceptu…
Factors impeding the implementation of spatial data infrastructure in lower middle-income economies
The economy of a country has a direct impact on the development, provision, and management of information such as spatial information that refers to the location of objects on earth. Spatial information is considered vital in policy planning and economic decision-making. For standardization and sound decision making, spatial information such as geology, climate change, topographic needs to be assembled and shared through spatial data infrastructu…

Do volatilities in tourism arrivals and foreign aids matter for GDP volatility in Cambodia? Partial and vector coherence wavelet models
The purpose of this research note is to investigate the nexus between volatility in international tourist arrivals, volatility in foreign aids and gross domestic product (GDP) volatility in Cambodia over the period of 1993–2018 by using partial and vector coherence wavelet models. The partial wavelet coherence models show that volatility in tourist arrival has strong impacts on GDP volatility across all time and frequency domains. Secondly, we fi…
Event motivation, subjective well-being, and revisit intentions during the second wave of the pandemic
This study examines the moderating effects of trust and perceived affective risk on the relationship between event motivations (socializing, novelty, nostalgia, emotion regulation, and loneliness), subjective-wellbeing and revisit intentions. We tested the proposed conceptual model via a convenient sample of 287 participants visiting an exhibition at the international contemporary art gallery in Istanbul, Turkey, during the second COVID-19 pandem…
Climate change and food security of South Asia
This study is the first effort to assess the long-term effects of change in climate on crop production in South Asian countries from 1991 to 2016 by employing the second-generation methods robust to cross-sectional dependence and slope heterogeneity. Using panel data with the panel dynamic least squares (PD-LS) method and several co-integration approaches, this study confirmed a long-term co-integration among considered variables. The long-run es…
Investigating the Dynamic Association Among CO 2 Emission, Energy Use, and Economic Growth
Environmental pollution and climatic variations are due to CO 2 emissions and considered an important global issue. The key aim of this study was to investigate the dynamic association among CO 2 emission, energy use, and economic growth in China. Secondary data was used in this study ranging from 1971 to 2014, and data stationarity was verified by applying the Augmented Dickey-Fuller unit root test. The autoregressive distributed lag (ARDL) boun…
Interventions for the Current Covid-19 Pandemic
BACKGROUND: Frontline workers (FLWs) are at a higher risk of COVID-19 infection during care interactions than the general population. Personal protective equipment (PPE) is regarded as an effective intervention for limiting the transmission of airborne viruses. However, research examining FLWs' intention to use PPE is limited. OBJECTIVES: This study addresses this research gap and also contributes by expanding the conceptual mechanism of planned …
Analysis of Factors Affecting Adoption of Volunteered Geographic Information in the Context of National Spatial Data Infrastructure
Spatial data infrastructures (SDIs) have been implemented for the last four decades in most countries. One of the key objectives of SDIs is to ensure the quick availability and accessibility of spatial data. The success of SDI depends on the underlying spatial datasets. Many developing countries such as Pakistan are facing problems in implementing SDI because of the unavailability of spatial data. Volunteered Geographic Information (VGI) is an al…

Agricultural Productivity, Efficiency, and Rural Poverty in Irrigated Pakistan
The main objective of this study is to estimate the input elasticities of production for poor and non-poor farms. The study estimates the stochastic frontier production function. The results show that the elasticities of production differ for poor and non-poor farms. The production elasticity of land is substantially higher on rich farms as compared to the farms belonging to poor farmers. This implies higher returns on investment on land by the r…

Assessing Public Willingness to Wear Face Masks during the Covid-19 Pandemic
Face masks are considered an effective intervention in controlling the spread of airborne viruses, as evidenced by the 2009's H1N1 swine flu and 2003's severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) outbreaks. However, research aiming to examine public willingness to wear (WTW) face masks in Pakistan are scarce. The current research aims to overcome this research void and contributes by expanding the theoretical mechanism of theory of planned behavior …
Intention-Based Critical Factors Affecting Willingness to Adopt Novel Coronavirus Prevention in Pakistan
Since human beings have a long tradition of coexistence with pandemics, which may profoundly impact them, adopting preventive measures is crucial for humankind's survival. This study explores the intention-based critical factors affecting the willingness of individuals to adopt pandemic prevention. To this end, a representative sample of 931 Pakistanis filled in an online questionnaire. However, only 828 questionnaires were found to be complete a…
Modeling Impact of Word of Mouth and E-Government on Online Social Presence during Covid-19 Outbreak
