Coastal Resident Trust, Similarity, Attitudes, and Intentions Regarding New Marine Reserves in Oregon
This article examined coastal resident attitudes and behavioral intentions associated with new marine reserves (MRs) in Oregon, as well as resident perceived similarity and trust in the lead managing agency (Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife). Data were obtained from a survey of residents along the Oregon coast (n = 596). Coastal Ecosystem-Based Management with Nonlinear Ecological Functions and Values
A common assumption is that ecosystem services respond linearly to changes in habitat size. This assumption leads frequently to an “all or none” choice of either preserving coastal habitats or converting them to human use. A large sample completed a questionnaire comprising structured ratings and a free-response relationship description.
