A framework to assess urban water resilience in developing countries like India
Many households in developing countries like India have adopted water-saving measures, but water availability in sufficient quantity, quality, and regularity has not been ensured due to network supply constraints, affordability of water through private vendors and the issue varies from area to area, within a city, based on the modalities of water supplies, socio-economic capabilities of households, local area regulations, and political interests.…
Deciphering transcriptomic signatures in schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and major depressive disorder
Schizophrenia (SCZ), Bipolar Disorder (BD), and Major Depressive Disorder (MDD) are severe psychiatric conditions that share overlapping clinical symptoms, yet they differ in their underlying molecular mechanisms. Despite extensive research, the biological foundations of these disorders remain incompletely understood. In this study, we performed a large-scale transcriptomic analysis by integrating 557 publicly available RNA-seq datasets from post…

The findi…
Vivax malaria
Plasmodium vivax is geographically the most widely dispersed human malaria parasite species. It has shown resilience and a great deal of adaptability. Genomic studies suggest that P. vivax originated from Asia or Africa and moved to the rest of the world. Although P. vivax is evolutionarily an older species than Plasmodium falciparum , its biology, transmission, pathology, and control still require better elucidation. P. vivax poses problems for …

Waste pickers do this in very unhygienic and hazardous conditions. This study examines the socio-economic status of waste pickers working in Ghaziabad using the Kuppuswamy SES (2020) scale. For this, 200 waste pickers, including male and female respondents, participated in this s…
Challenges in practical implementation of the concept of urban resilience in cities
Establishing Conceptual Components for Urban Resilience
This paper aims to establish inherent concepts associated with urban resilience theorizing, which lacks the links to urban planning in a way useful to enhance the urban resilience of existing settlements, through a multidisciplinary approach and acceptance of the complex structure of urban resilience. Moreover, most of the literature addressing the subject refer to it through bland and perplexing terminology, making the subject of urban resilienc…

Desalinization effect of simulated cut‐soiler‐based residue filled preferential shallow subsurface drainage
Soil salinity is a major soil degradation problem that limits agricultural production. The cut‐soiler constructed preferential shallow subsurface drainage (PSSD) method is a promising salinity management technology for small‐scale application and adoption in drylands. This study assessed the effectiveness of rice residue‐filled PSSD in managing soil salinity and its effect on the physiology and yield of pearl millet. The cut‐soiler simulated drai…

The present paper deals with the relationship of physiological and anthropometric measurements and long term exposure of cotton mill workers of Phagwara. Punjab. The samples were measured for physiological measurement, viz., vital capacity and anthropometric measurements, viz., weight, stature, sitting height, upper arm circumference and chest circumference and were compared with an appropriate control. Results indicate significant declination fo…
Effects of UV‐B on certain metabolic processes of the green alga chlorella vulgaris
Exposure of Chlorella vulgaris to UV‐B radiation inhibited the survival, growth, and contents of proteins, carbohydrates and pigments in C. vulgaris. Protein was more sensitive to irradiation than carbohydrate. The sensitivity of photosynthetic pigments to UV‐B was in the order of: Chl b > Chi a > carotenoids. UV‐B also inhibited ammonium uptake and glutamine synthetase activity. The degree of inhibition was enhanced in the dark incubated cells a…
