  • On-farm resource-use efficiency in China

Open Access•Meng-Lu Huang, Jing-Yu Liu et al.•ARTICLE•Humanities and Social Sciences…•2025

China’s agricultural sector has undergone substantial expansion in terms of crop production and resource inputs, giving rise to complex challenges, including resource scarcity, carbon emissions, and ecological degradation. Sustainable development of the agricultural sector largely hinges on a well-functioning food-energy-water (FEW) nexus because agriculture is closely intertwined with these resources. However, little attention has been paid to o…

  • Carbon-neutral heat supply strategies for industrial decarbonization

Open Access•Wen Chen, Chenghao Wei et al.•ARTICLE•Cleaner and Responsible Consumption•2024

A substantial body of systematic literature reviews has focused on the topic of industrial decarbonization. However, the decarbonization of industrial heating systems has been hampered by the continued reliance on fossil fuels for industrial heating. Remarkably, at the temperature level of industrial processes, the provision of relatively low-carbon heating is a viable proposition. However, there is a paucity of literature reviews that provide a …

  • Material flow and supply–demand feature of thulium in China

Open Access•Tianyu Zhang, Tian-Yu Zhang et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Industrial Ecology•2024

Limited insights have been obtained regarding the flows and stocks of thulium, the scarcest rare earth element. Thus, this study quantifies the thulium material flow from 2011 to 2020 in China, the largest thulium producer and reserve holder. Dynamic material flow analysis method is used and the demand and supply pattern of China's thulium is clarified. Results reveal that the final demand for thulium grows at an annual rate of 6.2%, reaching fro…

  • What’s wrong with different empowerment? The effect of differentiated empowering leadership on employee proactive service

Open Access•Yanan Dong, Xinyuan Zhao et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Hospitality & Tourism…•2023

Differentiated empowering leadership is common in organizations; however, its effect on employee proactive customer service performance remains less understood. Drawing on social comparison theory, this study proposes a multilevel model for how and when differentiated empowering leadership affects employee proactive customer service performance. The study, based on a sample of 228 employees from 77 teams in China, shows a negative relationship be…

  • Evaluating Environmental Performance of Industrial Park Development

Open Access•Huijuan Dong, Zuoxi Liu et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Industrial Ecology•2018

In order to improve the overall sustainability of industrial parks, it is necessary to understand the development characteristics of industrial parks so that appropriate management measures can be raised. Under such a circumstance, this study analyzes the changes in the environmental performance of Shenyang Economic and Technology Development Zone (SETDZ) in terms of emergy‐based indicators and explores underlying driving forces using decompositi…

  • Economic Impacts from PM 2.5 Pollution-Related Health Effects in China

Yang Xie, Hancheng Dai et al.•ARTICLE•Environmental Science & Technology•2016

This study evaluates the PM2.5 pollution-related health impacts on the national and provincial economy of China using a computable general equilibrium (CGE) model and the latest nonlinear exposure-response functions. Results show that the health and economic impacts may be substantial in provinces with a high PM2.5 concentration. In the WoPol scenario without PM2.5 pollution control policy, we estimate that China experiences a 2.00% GDP loss and …

  • An Overview of Chinese Green Building Standards

Open Access•Yong Geng, Geng Yong et al.•ARTICLE•Sustainable Development•2012•Citada por: 3

With rapid urbanization and industrialization, China is now facing a great challenge in meeting the soaring demand for new buildings and the corresponding energy consumption. Under such circumstances, the setting of a national standard on green buildings would be an effective way to respond. In fact, China has made significant progress in developing national green building standards. But such progress is not explicitly released to the internation…
