  • Offspring migration and nutritional status of left-behind older adults in rural China

Open Access•Chang Liu, Thomas Eriksson et al.•ARTICLE•Economics & Human Biology•2021

Improvements in nutritional status is a principal pathway to good health. This study examines the effect of migration of adult children on the nutrient intake of left-behind older adults in rural China. We use data from four waves (2004-2011) of the China Health and Nutrition Survey and utilize individual fixed effects methods to panel data. Results show that the migration of offspring is associated with significantly higher nutritional status of…

  • High‐Performance Management Practices and Employee Outcomes in Denmark

Open Access•Annalisa Cristini, Thomas Eriksson et al.•ARTICLE•Scottish Journal of Political…•2013•Citada por: 2•Referências: 3

High‐performance work practices are frequently considered to have positive effects on corporate performance, but what do they do for employees? After assessing the correlation between organizational innovation and firm performance, this article investigates whether high‐involvement work practices affect workers in terms of wages, wage inequality and workforce composition. The analysis is based on a survey directed at Danish firms matched with lin…

  • Attracting public service motivated employees

Open Access•Lotte Bøgh Andersen, Thomas Eriksson et al.•ARTICLE•International Review of…•2012•Citada por: 4•Referências: 6

Public sector managers want to attract employees with high public service motivation as they are expected to perform better. The public service motivation literature rarely gives practical advice on how this can be done. Recognizing that compensation packages act as a sorting device that can be used to attract specific types of workers, we combine empirical measures of public service motivation with a newly developed approach to employees’ moneta…

  • Nonlinearities in Intergenerational Earnings Mobility

    Open Access•Bernt Bratsberg, Knut Røed et al.•ARTICLE•The Economic Journal•2007•Citada por: 44•Referências: 22

We show that the patterns of intergenerational earnings mobility in Denmark, Finland and Norway, unlike those for the US and the UK, are highly nonlinear. The Nordic relationship between log earnings of sons and fathers is flat in the lower segments of the fathers' earnings distribution - sons growing up in the poorest households have the same adult earnings prospects as sons in moderately poor households - and is increasingly positive in middle …

  • The Adoption of Job Rotation

Open Access•Thomas Eriksson, Tor Eriksson et al.•ARTICLE•Industrial and Labor Relations…•2006•Citada por: 5•Referências: 10

This paper tests three possible explanations for why firms adopt job rotation: employee learning (rotation makes employees more versatile), employer learning (through rotation, employers learn more about individual workers' strengths), and employee motivation (rotation mitigates boredom). Whereas previous studies have examined either establishment characteristics or a single firm's personnel records, this study merges information from a detailed …

  • Gender differences in risk factors for suicide in Denmark

Open Access•Ping Qin, Esben Agerbo et al.•ARTICLE•The British Journal of Psychiatry•2000

BACKGROUND: Gender is one of the most frequently replicated predictors for suicide. AIMS: To identify risk factors for suicide among males and females and to investigate whether risk factors for suicide differ by gender. METHOD: A time-matched nested case-control design was performed using Danish longitudinal register databases to obtain 811 suicide cases and 79 871 controls. Data were analysed using conditional logistic regression. RESULTS: A hi…
