Convenience sampling facilitated by recruitment notices distributed through needle and syringe programmes (NSPs), and snowballing within peer networks. Setting.     Heroin overdose is a common experience amongst heroin users in Victoria, Australia and presents an increasingly serious public health problem for the Victorian community.
