Recent studies have documented the disparate impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on labor market outcomes for different racial groups. This paper adds to this literature by documenting that the employment of Asian Americans—in particular those with no college education—has been especially hard hit by the economic crisis associated with the onset of the pandemic. The ACA Medicaid Expansion in Michigan and Financial Health
This article examines how the financial health changes following an individual's enrollment in Michigan's Medicaid program (Healthy Michigan Program, HMP). We use unique data that link credit reports of HMP enrollees to Medicaid administrative data on enrollment and use of healthcare services. Prenatal Sex Selection and Girls’ Well-Being
We study the impacts of prenatal sex selection on girls' well‐being in India. We show that high sex ratios at birth reflect the practice of prenatal sex selection and apply a triple difference strategy to examine whether changes in health outcomes of girls relative to boys within states and over time are systematically associated with changes in sex‐ratios at birth. On the Performance of Some Robust Instrumental Variables Estimators
This article considers instrumental variables versions of the quantile and rank regression estimators. The asymptotic properties of the estimators are discussed, and a small-scale Monte Carlo study is used to illustrate the potential advantages of the approach. This paper investigates differences between large and small firms in new hires' ages and in compensation structures.
