  • Who takes part in virtual reality studies? An analysis of lighting research

    Open Access•Vania Ceccato, Chloé Martins•ARTICLE•Sustainable Futures•2023•Referências: 1

Virtual reality (VR) has become an important resource in light research and an ultimate tool for participatory approaches in sustainable urban planning. This article reviews the research design of VR light research focusing on the profile of participants. A search for peer-reviewed articles using a systematic literature review in Scopus (2000-2023) resulted in 56 articles that show that a quarter of the studies integrate the participants’ charact…

  • Amidst the waves, the Roc’h Santeg Leton rock shelter (Santec, Finistère)

    Open Access•Grégor Marchand, Marie-Yvane Daire et al.•ARTICLE•Gallia préhistoire•2020•Referências: 8

The excavation of the rock-shelter of Roc’h Santeg Leton (Santec, Finistère) have been made in 2015 and 2016. This emergency excavation on the islet is linked to research programs on armorican rock shelters (“Take Shelter!” program) and on the erosion of coastal heritage (“ALeRT” program). D. Roué discovered the site in 1985 on a rocky islet 1300 m from the coast. Nine periods of occupation have been identified recorded in a 1.10 m thick stratigr…

  • A first note on the excavations at UAQ38, a new Neolithic site in the Emirate of Umm al‐Quwain

Open Access•Michele Degli Esposti, Federico Borgi et al.•ARTICLE•Arabian archaeology and epigraphy•2019•Citada por: 1•Referências: 9

At the end of 2018, the first season of excavation was carried out at the shell midden site of UAQ38. The site occupies the top of a sand dune not far from UAQ36 and UAQ2, two other recently investigated Neolithic shell middens. Several well‐stratified anthropogenic levels were excavated at UAQ38, which can be dated mainly to the 5th millennium BC, although the recorded artefacts suggest a possible older date for the lowest levels. Food waste, po…

  • First wave of cultivators spread to Cyprus at least 10,600 y ago

Open Access•Jean-Denis Vigne, Jean‐denis Vigne et al.•ARTICLE•Proceedings of the National…•2012

Early Neolithic sedentary villagers started cultivating wild cereals in the Near East 11,500 y ago [Pre-Pottery Neolithic A (PPNA)]. Recent discoveries indicated that Cyprus was frequented by Late PPNA people, but the earliest evidence until now for both the use of cereals and Neolithic villages on the island dates to 10,400 y ago. Here we present the recent archaeological excavation at Klimonas, which demonstrates that established villagers were…

  • Neolithic flat-based pots from the Carnac Mounds in the light of Cycladic ‘frying pans’

Open Access•Cassen Serge, Serge Cassen et al.•ARTICLE•Documenta Praehistorica•2012

A rare type of pottery, found in four single graves under earthen mounds in the Carnac region of Brittany, consists of a circular, flat-based vessel with a near-vertical wall. On the basis of the equipment known from elsewhere in the world, it is possible that the morphology of these dishes is related to processes involved in the production of salt. To help us in exploring their function, we chose to compare these vessels with another enigmatic c…

The site ofRJ2 is located near the sea. It was occupied during the IVth millennium ВС (Neolithic) and during the Bronze Age, between 2 500 and 2 000 ВС (Umm an-Nar culture). Archaeozoological studies showed that fishes were widely consumed (66. 6 % of the NR) as well as the green tortoises (27.4 % of the NR). In addition to bone remains, it is necessary to add the shell. They indicate a consumption of the maritime molluscs by these populations. T…
