  • Differences in intrinsic water use efficiency and driving mechanisms between life forms along the succession pathway in karst evergreen and deciduous broad-leaved mixed forest

Open Access•Shuo Wang, Yi Jiang et al.•ARTICLE•Trees Forests and People•2026

Leaf δ13C, as a proxy for intrinsic water-use efficiency (iWUE) is a core physiological indicator connecting the carbon and water cycles in ecosystems. Understanding its dynamics and driving mechanisms along the successional pathway is crucial for revealing the water-forest relationship, especially under water-scarce conditions. This study established a series of plots along the successional pathway in a karst evergreen and deciduous broad-leaved…

  • Co-design in the street

    Open Access•Shuo Wang, Sinan Wang•ARTICLE•CoDesign•2026

Co-design has become a prominent vocabulary in UK urban design and planning, frequently associated with participation, inclusion, and community empowerment, especially in street-based interventions and placemaking. This article examines co-design as an urban practice embedded in everyday spatial conditions shaped by neoliberal restructuring and austerity. Methodologically, it combines a critical narrative review, used here as a selective and inte…

  • Large language models in Chinese anesthesiology residency examinations

Open Access•Shuo Wang, Xiaohui CHI et al.•ARTICLE•BMC Medical Education•2026

  • Changes of HIV related knowledge, attitudes and practices in newly enrolled students in universities

Open Access•Defeng Chen, Shuo Wang et al.•ARTICLE•BMC Public Health•2026

This prospective study highlights that newly enrolled university students experienced an increase in HIV-related knowledge and a rise in romantic relationship within the first three months. However, this was not accompanied by a positive shift in attitudes or safer practices. This knowledge-behavior gap, coupled with declining social self-efficacy, highlights the urgent need for early, skills-based HIV interventions that go beyond mere knowledge …

  • Determinants of consumer intention to use autonomous delivery vehicles

Open Access•Chunhua Ju, Shuo Wang•ARTICLE•Humanities and Social Sciences…•2025

Autonomous delivery vehicles (ADVs) that provide contactless services have attracted much academic and practical attention in China in recent years. Despite this, there is a lack of in-depth research on what motivates customers to embrace ADVs. The study integrates the theory of planned behavior (TPB) and normative activation model (NAM) and explores how environmental factors, situational factors, and individual factors affect original TPB constr…

    Open Access•Puneeth N Chakravarthula, Jacob E Suffridge et al.•ARTICLE•Cognition•2025

Humans can rapidly memorize numerous images, which is surprising considering the limited visual sampling of each image. To enhance the probability of recognition, it is crucial to focus on previously sampled locations most likely to support memory. How does the visuomotor system achieve this? To study this, we analyzed the eye movements of a group of neurotypical observers while they performed a natural scene memorization task. Using comprehensiv…
